Don’t let hyperhidrosis hold you back
At the Dermatology Treatment and Research Center, patients in and around the community of Dallas, TX have access to quality care from several of our dermatologists. Our team is available to current and new patients and can assist with a wide range of medical and cosmetic dermatology needs. When patients are dealing with excessive sweating, they may be diagnosed with a condition known as hyperhidrosis.
What is hyperhidrosis?
Hyperhidrosis is a condition that can develop and results in excessive sweating. Oftentimes the sweating occurs from the underarms, though some patients experiencing hyperhidrosis also sweat from the hands, feet, and the head. This excess sweating is not only embarrassing, but can ruin clothing and a patient’s own self-esteem.
Treatment for hyperhidrosis
Hyperhidrosis is a condition that typically has a resolution with proper treatment. Some patients develop hyperhidrosis as a symptom of certain conditions or medications, but when it has been determined that hyperhidrosis stands alone, patients can speak to a professional about the best treatment for their unique needs.
Treatment for hyperhidrosis may include one or more of the following services from the Dermatology Treatment and Research Center:
- Prescription-strength antiperspirants and deodorants
- Botox (neuromodulator) injections
- Prescription-strength anti-sweating medications
- Antidepressant medications
- Sweat gland removal
- Sweat nerves surgery
- Microwave surgery
In most cases, conservative treatments such as antiperspirants and deodorants are effective at addressing excessive sweating. However, patients may need more invasive procedures to combat the problem if it does not respond well to prescript-strength products. During an evaluation, our providers will go over the various experiences patients have had, and the treatments they have attempted, to develop a treatment plan that works. In most cases, surgical intervention can be avoided with alternative solutions. These are determined based on the findings of the dermatologist’s evaluation.
